Donating Blood While on Arthritis Joint Supplements
Take Glucosamine Daily and Donate Blood
June 12, 2013
Blood saves lives. Those of us with arthritis who have had surgery are all to familiar with the possibility of blood transfusions. Whether we need it for surgery or others need blood because of an emergency—we rely on blood donors to save lives.
June 14th is World Blood Donor Day. It’s a day when we’re reminded to give the gift of life just in time for the summer travel season. The World Health Organization states that there over 107 billion blood donations every year. That still isn’t enough. Everyone who can donate blood, should. Of course, when you have arthritis and take medicine and arthritis joint supplements, you wonder if you can donate blood.
Those with Rheumatoid Arthritis can not donate blood. It’s an autoimmune disease, which is why you can’t donate.
If you have Osteoarthritis, you can donate blood. That means you can continue taking your arthritis joint supplements. You just have to be otherwise healthy. No cold. No flu. No other viruses.
So go ahead. Plan on donating blood this week. Save lives. You never know when you’ll need donated blood.
