Synflex® is a prime example of a very high-quality liquid Glucosamine formula. Glucosamine and Chondroitin have worldwide acceptance for use for those who suffer from OA. That includes Europe. And, a look at how other countries treat Glucosamine and Chondroitin is very enlightening. In 56 countries, Glucosamine is either an over-the-counter or prescription medication. Likewise, Chondroitin is either a prescription or over-the-counter drug in 22 countries.
In some countries, Glucosamine and Chondroitin is subsidized or reimbursed by insurers and under and some government health plans. Not so in the United States. It is also very interesting that in Europe, Glucosamine and Chondroitin has the highest level of evidence (1A) and the highest level of recommendations (A) of all treatments for Osteoarthritis. And, in across the board outcomes, Glucosamine and Chondroitin have long-term outcomes in OA patients. 1) A 75% reduction in joint replacements when compared to placebo when used for 2-3 years; 2) a 67% reduction in the need for anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS); and, 3) a decreased need for medications; therapy; and, surgery.
One has to wonder why the U.S. Government has steadfastly refused to accept the long-standing and positive results that have long been clinically demonstrated in Europe. And as well, that they place rigid restrictions on the advertising of Glucosamine and Chondroitin products. It makes no sense other than a large and effective lobby that works on behalf of the prescription drug industry. That is, at a minimum a factor here.
