Meet Mox with the Lake Station Police Department. Here is what his handler, Detective M. Smith had to say.
I am a narcotics detective and currently the only K9 handler at the Lake Station Police Department. I have been a police officer for approximately 10 years. In 2004, I purchased Mox from Fleming K9 in Gridley, IL. Mox was an 8 ½ week old German Shepherd. Little did I know how much of a bond this dog and I would have. I began to train Mox at approximately 6 months old. The training and obedience came very natural to him. I began the narcotic imprinting on him at approximately 1 year and it was amazing how well he understood what we were trying to teach him. After countless hours of training and certification Mox was now ready for the patrol.
I can remember the first time I deployed Mox was during a narcotics investigation and he was deployed to sniff a vehicle for the presence of illegal narcotics. Mox immediately indicated on the driver’s door of the vehicle and I began to search the vehicle. We recovered 52 bags of cocaine hidden in a compartment in the driver’s door.
Mox’s police work took off from there. He has located several hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of illegal narcotics from vehicles, residences, semi tractor-trailers, and even through the United States Mail. This incredible dog is also responsible for capturing several criminals including a subject that stabbed another male several times and he was hiding with feet of officers without their knowledge.
Mox is now 8 ½ years old and still has the heart and drive of when he was 1 years old. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and has trouble walking and working. He will be standing at the door waiting to go to work every day. Although, now I can see that simple chores like getting in and out of my patrol car are difficult for him. We have have tried several different medications and anti- inflammatory with little or no relief. I was told about Synflex and gave it a try. I could see a difference after just a short time of giving this to Mox. More importantly, He was more stable on his feet and getting in and out of my patrol car came more easily and he seemed to have relief. I can honestly say that Synflex really works, thank you.
