Synflex® offers two liquid Glucosamine products that are used specifically for dogs. (And, other animals) It is important to know which one is the right one for your dog for health reasons.
Synflex® 1500 should never be used for family pets. The reason is this. Although it has slightly more Glucosmine in that formula, it also contains White Willow Bark. That ingredient contains Salacin which is a chemical component of Salycitic Acid. It is used for both pain relief and its anti-inflammatory properties. Salicin is also changed by your body to salycilic acid. What that means is that the undesirable side of this chemically produced aspirin could occur from using White Willow Bark. In family pets, this could spell disaster.
The biggest concern using White Willow Bark is that it could cause stomach ulcers in your dog. It can also cause nausea, rash, kidney damage and gastrointestinal bleeding.
Synflex® specifically recommends using either Synflex® Regular formula or Synflex® for Pets. (Beef flavored) Both are very effective when used for hip dysplasia or other joint problems.
The company just takes a more cautious route when dealing with family pets. Why take risks when the other two formulas do an excellent job.
