Regal and Meimei: Twenty Years, Two Rescue Dogs, and One Customer in Taiwan

In short: Jean has been buying Synflex from us for over twenty years, from Taiwan, for a series of rescue dogs. This summer she sent us video of two of them — Regal, who is fourteen, and Meimei, who has been paralysed since before Jean took her in. She gave us permission to share the clips. What follows is her story in her words, and ours only where it needs explaining.

How this started

Most of what we do is inventory and shipping. Bottles go out, orders come in, and it’s easy to lose sight of where any of it ends up.

In August, a long-standing customer in New Taipei City wrote to us about a problem with an order. We sorted it out. Then she sent something we weren’t expecting — a handful of video clips of her dogs, with a note that began: “Thought you might want to know how synflex has helped my current dogs to enjoy the lives they so deserve.”

Jean has been ordering from us for more than twenty years. She rescues dogs, and she shares bottles with other rescuers in her network. We asked whether she’d let us share her story. She said yes, and added: “The videos explain all. Facts always prove better than words.”

She’s right, so we’ve put them where they belong rather than describing them.

Regal

Regal is fourteen. In September 2025, Jean says, he could barely take a step.

Regal, September 2025. Jean started him on Synflex around this time.

Here he is nine months later:

Regal, June 2026. Same dog, nine months on.

Jean’s words when she sent these: “It broke my heart seeing Regal in pain last year.”

Meimei

Meimei’s name means “beautiful” in Chinese. She’s twelve.

Her medical records go back to May 2015, when she was pulled off a road, already paralysed. She came into Jean’s care in 2022 — paralysed from the waist down, with weak front limbs and severe pressure sores on both hips. Anyone who has cared for an animal with sores of that kind knows what that means in terms of daily work.

Meimei, 2026. Four years into Jean’s care.

The wheels are a dog wheelchair, supporting the back legs that don’t work. Everything else you’re watching — the speed, the turns, the chasing — she’s doing with her front two.

As Jean put it: “It means more than anything to see her gaining the mobility of her front legs. People can’t believe this happy girl is the same dog they knew before.”

Never a dull moment!
Someone’s at the door!

What Jean said, and what we’d add

When we asked to write this up, Jean sent back a line that we think is the heart of it:

“Strong legs is so important for dogs to live their lives to the fullest. Even with just two legs.”

She also wrote: “I love my dogs very much. They are truly godsend.”

What we’d add is only this: Jean deserves most of the credit here, and we suspect she’d be the last person to say so. Meimei was rescued, treated, and given four years of daily care by someone who wouldn’t give up on her. Regal is a senior dog with someone paying very close attention to him. Synflex was part of a routine built by a person who does this work every day, and we’d be taking more credit than we’re owed if we let the bottle stand in front of her.

What the videos show is real. Most of what produced it was Jean.

Why we wanted to publish this

Partly because there are a lot of people with a senior dog or a rescue in rough shape who don’t know what’s possible, and hearing it from someone who’s lived it lands differently than anything we could write.

And partly for the reason we gave Jean when we asked: we spend our days on inventory and shipping. It’s easy to forget what’s on the other end of it. This was a good reminder.

Thank you, Jean — for twenty years of business, for trusting us with this, and for what you do for these dogs.

Our best to Regal and Meimei.

Frequently Asked Questions

How did a customer in Taiwan end up ordering from you for twenty years?

It was before most of the current team was here! Jean has been ordering since the early 2000s, for a series of rescue dogs, and she shares bottles with other rescuers in her network. These days she emails before ordering and we handle it directly.

What does Jean use for her dogs?

Synflex for Pets, our beef-flavoured liquid formula for dogs and cats. Being a liquid, it goes over food rather than needing to be hidden in a treat — which matters a great deal when you’re managing several dogs, some of them elderly.
